Edibles at Home: Decarb, Dosing, and Not Ruining Dinner

A kitchen-safe guide to making edibles: decarboxylation temperatures, butter infusion, and the arithmetic that keeps doses predictable.

Raw flower will not get anyone anywhere: THCA needs heat to become THC. Decarboxylate at 110°C for 40 minutes — hotter is not faster, it is just degraded.

Infuse low and slow. Butter or coconut oil at 80°C for two to three hours, strained through cheesecloth, keeps flavor manageable and potency even.

The arithmetic is the safety feature. One gram of 20% flower is 200mg THC; split across a 20-piece batch that is 10mg a piece — a sensible ceiling for a labeled home edible. Label everything, always, and store it away from anyone under 21.

Start with half a piece and wait two hours. The classic edible mistake is redosing at minute forty-five; the classic fix is patience and a calm evening.
